Outdoor Living Supply: one platform for contractors
A national network of outdoor-living distributors needed a digital platform that works for contractors on site as well as at a desk. I led the UX strategy and designed it across desktop, tablet, mobile and dark mode.

The problem
Contractors juggle ordering, tracking and account tasks across tools, and the platform serves thousands of them across a distributor network.
My role
Led UX design strategy for the platform overhaul and advised senior stakeholders; wireframes and interaction models for complex contractor workflows.
The result
A responsive design set (desktop, tablet, mobile, dark mode) that brings ordering, tracking and account tools together, built over four hi-fi iterations.
This case shows real client work. The screens below are from my design file.
01 — The client
A distribution platform built by acquisition.
Outdoor Living Supply was formed in 2020 to bring independent hardscape, landscape and outdoor-living distributors together, and has grown into a national network serving contractors, dealers and homeowners across the US.Public Sources: Modern Distribution Management (opens in a new tab), Landscape Management (opens in a new tab).
02 — My part
Strategy first, then the screens.
I led UX design strategy for the platform overhaul, advised senior stakeholders on UX practice, and shaped the experience vision for a platform serving thousands of contractors, balancing business priorities with the contractor’s needs. I worked with cross-functional teams so everything aligned with the brand’s values of fun, optimism and teamwork, and the engagement’s insights fed the digital roadmap.Judgement
Scope as listed on my Toptal profile.
03 — The process
Old design, low-fi, then four hi-fi rounds.

The file moves from the old design and personas to low-fidelity wireframes, then four hi-fi versions, with a shared component page, an icon library and styles. Each breakpoint is designed on purpose, not scaled down.Design-level

04 — Design decisions
Two calls.
Bring the daily tasks together
Ordering, tracking and account tools sit together in one dashboard, so a contractor doesn’t switch tools to finish a job.Judgement
Design for the job site, not just the desk
Tablet and mobile are first-class layouts, and a dark mode exists for low light.Design-level

I don’t quote usability or revenue numbers here: I don’t have measured figures I can evidence from this engagement.
